New Bend High School

Bend-La Pine School District | Bend, Oregon

BRIC is designing the new Bend high school in association with BBT Architects. With the passing of the 2016 Bond, the school is expected to open in the fall of 2021.

The New Bend-La Pine High School will be a place where students, staff and the larger community feel safe, welcome and connected to one another. The 240,000 sf facility will be built as the school for the future by featuring flexible, functional design that meets diverse needs in the present and can respond to educational innovations in the future.

Housing a population of 1,600 students, the building will contain a variety of engaging spaces that stimulate deep learning and student agency helping students find their passions, take responsibility, and prepare for success in college, careers and life.

The facility will include innovative flexibility to accommodate team teaching spaces, peer-to-peer student collaboration, and a variety of adaptable teacher-led instructional spaces. An open and visually connected media center is the nucleus of the new HS, sitting adjacent to the student commons and is an integral part of student life. To deliver robust CTE programs the new high school will partner with local trades and industry. A state of the art athletic facility will seat 1,700 students, staff and community members. A 600-seat performing arts center will support band, choir and orchestra programs.
