Summer Internship Opportunity 2024

Opportunity Our internship program is responsive to your interests and goals. We collaborate with you to develop a range of experiences that support your growth and allow you to explore different roles and responsibilities. Opportunities will include collaboration with project teams and clients, site visits, community engagement, project-based design and documentation, independent research, and mentorship. Summer internships are hosted in our Portland office, with opportunities to extend the experience through remote or hybrid work into the school year. We encourage students across all levels of undergraduate and graduate studies to apply.

Skills We seek students who can communicate with graphics, artwork, and writing; who can reflect on their own compelling and formative stories; and who demonstrate a passion and curiosity for learning. We value students who are interested in collaboration and mentorship.

Application Process Please send a cover letter, resume/CV, and representative samples of creative or analytical work. (We love to see creative work beyond your architectural studies, especially if you are early in your architectural education.) Material may be sent via PDF attachment but should not exceed 15MB in size. Link to a website showcasing a candidate’s work should be supplementary to the PDF attachment. When presenting collaborative work, please indicate your role(s) and contributions. Material should be emailed to:

We will review applications and conduct interviews beginning in November 2023 and continue to review them through May 2024. This is a full-time, paid summer internship of at least 10 weeks, typically beginning in June and extending through August. We know that many students experience barriers to accessing internships. We will work with prospective applicants to reduce these barriers. Assistance may include travel or housing stipends to offset the cost of relocating to Portland.

BRIC is a community-focused architecture firm that works alongside students, educators, and local stakeholders to engage in authentic, value-driven conversations. Building Relationships and Inspiring Communities are more than the words of our firm name, they are central to how we approach every project. Our work is inherently collaborative; we champion processes that encourage diverse voices – especially those of the historically underserved – to come to the table, share their thoughts, and co-create comprehensive design solutions. This approach to educational planning, design, and community engagement reflects our commitment to dismantling biases that pervade the architecture industry. We partner with our clients to examine long-standing assumptions, reimagine existing buildings, and plan for innovative new facilities that inspire a more humane and just world. Together, we’re designing safe, equitable, and sustainable environments that empower learners to change the world.

BRIC Architecture, Inc. is one of Oregon’s largest majority-woman owned architecture firms.

People here love the work they do, care deeply about each other and have the opportunity to contribute greatly to the world through their work.
